Mattress FAQs

  1. Why do I have a backache on my new mattress?The wearing out process of your old mattress was very gradual. Over time, the springs lost their ability to support your body. Many people complain of rolling toward their partner or excessive tossing and turning on their old mattress. When you go to a new support system, the new memory foam support will push your back into a straight-line sleeping posture. It can stretch muscles and ligaments in the process. Don’t let this alarm you…it may take up to 7-10 days for your body to re-adjust to being properly supported.
  2. What should I look when buying a new mattress?Sleep experts recommend a firm support system with no sag or hammock. The special support of our memory foam mattresses provides the deep down support for your back. On average people toss and turn 50 times a night. Your body sends an impulse to your brain signaling that circulation is being cut off. Your brain then pulls you out of the deep rejuvenating stages of sleep to turn over in hopes to restore proper circulation. The layers of memory foam in our mattresses provide the necessary pressure relief for minimal tossing and turning. Push down on the mattress firmly with both hands. The unique, memory foam support will let the heaviest parts of your body (your shoulders and hips) sink into the mattress without experiencing circulation cutoff.
  3. If I don’t use a mattress protector, is my mattress warranty voided?The warranty will not be affected if you don’t use a mattress protector but we strongly recommend using one. Not only do mattress protectors extend the life of your mattress, it makes cleaning your mattress a lot easier.

Comfort Base FAQs

  1. Is a foundation or bed frame needed?No, there is no need for a metal bed frame or a foundation. The Comfort Base replaces both these items. The mattress will be directly on top of the base which offers the same support as a foundation. It also has its own legs which support the adjustable base off the floor.
  2. Will my Comfort Base work with any mattress?Yes. Glideaway Comfort Bases are compatible with most innerspring, hybrid, foam, and air mattresses of any brand. If you prefer an innerspring mattress, it is important to note that mattresses with a border wire are not compatible with Comfort Bases. If possible, we suggest purchasing your mattress and the Comfort Base at the same time to create a personalized sleep system that works well together.
  3. Do Comfort Bases come with a mattress?No. The base is an independent part of the bed that replaces the box spring. The adjustable-friendly mattress of your choice rests on top of the base.
  4. What does the feature “Wall Hugging” mean?If a Comfort Base has the Wall Hugging feature it does not move away from the wall or nightstand as the head inclines. Instead, it moves up along the wall, keeping the nightstand within reach.
  5. What is the Sleep Enhancement™ feature?Sleep Enhancement™ utilizes Total Body Vibration created by a single vibe motor placed on the underside of the base, in the mid-back area. The vibrations ease you to sleep and provide you with health benefits like increasing circulation, alleviate muscle fatigue, and reducing stress hormones. It also created a white noise effect, blocking out noises that may interrupt your sleep.
  6. What is the Zero Gravity position?The zero-gravity position duplicates the position astronauts take during liftoff. The position is meant to ease the stress on their bodies as they escape Earth’s gravity. The position raises the feet to the same level as the heart. People who have back pain or who would like to increase their circulation often find this position extremely relaxing. It creates a sensation of weightlessness.
  7. What do I do if I lose my remote control?You can purchase a replacement remote control directly from us. Be sure to have your Comfort Base’s serial number available so we can help you find the correct remote control for your model. Then call us at 1-855-581-3095 or email us.
  8. What do I do if my Comfort Base or remote control isn’t working properly?Please see our troubleshooting questions on this page. If that doesn’t solve your concern, call us at 1-855-581-3095 or email us.
  9. Where can I find the serial number for my Comfort Base?The serial number can be found on the underside of the base. Raise the head up of the base to see it. Split king bases will have two serial numbers.

  11. What happens if I get my adjustable base home and I’m not satisfied with it?Return policies are set by the individual retailers. Be sure to ask your salesperson about the store’s policies.

  13. My Comfort Base is not level.Verify all legs on same surface.
  14. My Comfort Base is making an excessive motor noise.
    1. Verify that base is not positioned against a wall, nightstand, or other object that may cause vibration or noise.
    2. Verify headboard brackets were removed during installation. Remove headboard brackets if still attached to the underside of base.
    3. If base is located on hard surface flooring, place carpet pieces under each leg or caster of the base.
    4. If adjustable base is installed over a bed frame, verify vibe motor is not causing bed frame (or bed frame components) to vibrate.
    5. Verify that headboard attachment hardware is tightened firmly (if used).
    6. Verify there is nothing under the base that could cause noise during adjustable base operation.
    7. If air mattress is being used, check to see if the pump is the source of the noise.
  15. The head or foot section of my Comfort base will rise but will not return to a flat position.
    1. Base mechanism may be obstructed. Elevate base and check for obstruction. Remove obstruction.
    2. Head section may be too close to the wall.
    3. Headboard may be too close to the edge of the mattress. Verify a 1.5” (38.1mm) to 2” (50.8mm) distance between headboard brackets and mattress. Adjust if required.
    4. Elevate the head or foot section a short distance (with the remote control) to realign the lift/lower mechanisms with the base support platform.
    5. Press the emergency stop button. This can lower the base to flat position, if it’s still receiving power. Location of emergency stop button varies model-to-model.
  16. My remote control will not illuminate.Replace batteries in the remote control.
  17. My Comfort Base is not working after a power outage.Unplug power cord, wait 30 seconds, and plug back in.
  18. None of the features of my Comfort Base will activate.
    1. Try the following troubleshooting steps or contact Glideaway at 1-855-581-3095 or email them.
    2. Unplug power cord, wait 30 seconds, and plug in to reset electronic components.
    3. Electrical circuit breaker may be tripped. Check electrical service breaker box to verify.
    4. Defective surge protection device or electrical outlet. Test outlet by plugging in another working appliance.
  19. Can a Comfort Base go on a platform bed with storage drawers underneath?Yes. Freestyle model can go on a platform bed with drawers. Our Odessa, Vesta, Accord, and Mica models can accommodate platform beds with our Zero Clearance Kit. If you would like to purchase a Zero Clearance Kit or other accessories, call 1-800-428-5222.
  20. What does the feature “Elevate” or “Elevation” mean?There are many health and lifestyle benefits to sleeping in an elevated position but for side and stomach sleepers, sleeping in traditional adjustable bases can be uncomfortable. Our Elevation feature provides these benefits for those who prefer to sleep on their side or stomach.
  21. Can my current furniture and linens be used with my Comfort Base?Yes. Existing headboards and bed linens can be used with your Comfort Base. If you would like to purchase a headboard bracket or other accessories, call 1-800-428-5222.

  23. Do I have to set up or assemble my adjustable base?In many cases, the retailer the base was purchased from will deliver, assemble, and set up your Comfort Base for you. Be sure to ask your salesperson about the store’s policies.

Pillow FAQs

  1. What is Latex?Latex foam is a type of foam designed to outlast traditional spring mattresses. It can be made using natural or synthetic (manmade) ingredients. It is a breathable, resilient material that conforms to your unique body shape and weight. Latex gives you the feeling of sleeping “on” your mattress, not “in” it. This combination of contoured comfort and top layer support makes latex a popular choice. Latex also features an open cell structure, allowing more room temperature air to flow through it, removing the heat away from your body. Latex can be natural, synthetic, or a blend of both. All of them are durable, allergen resistant, antimicrobial, and dust mite resistant.
  2. What is Memory Foam?Memory foam was originally developed in 1966 under contract for NASA to provide relief for astronauts undergoing the extreme physical stress of “G-Forces.” The material that was invented, visco-elastic polyurethane foam – responds to your body’s heat and molds around you, relieving pressure points and improving circulation.Over the years, memory foam has been improved to provide exceptional therapeutic cushioning and support, significantly reduces pressure points, improve circulation, and optimize sleep temperatures. This is why a memory foam mattress or pillow is superior to a traditional fiber pillow and inner-spring mattress. It is also allergen resistant, antimicrobial, and dust mite resistant.
  3. Are mattresses and pillows that contain latex safe for allergy sufferers?It depends. Latex mattresses and pillows present in the market today are safe for use even by allergy sufferers. Latex allergies are usually only activated through skin contact and your skin will not come into contact with latex in our products because of our covers. If a person has a known allergy, they should make the decision based on their experience and the guidelines a physician gave them.
  4. What should I do if my pillow has a weird scent?The memory foam smell should dissipate after a few hours. You can also air out your pillow by leaving it outside or washing your pillow cover with vinegar or baking soda.
