What is the back travel feature?

Some of Glideaway’s adjustable base models feature back travel. This feature enables the head section of the adjustable base to move independently as you change its incline.

In other words, the head section is always the same distance from the wall and you’re always able to easily access your nightstand.

What is the Zero Gravity feature?

Developed by NASA, the Zero Gravity position raises both the legs and the head at an angle meant to improve your circulation and alleviate pressure points.

What is the Sleep Enhancement™ feature?

Glideaway’s Sleep Enhancement™ utilizes a motor placed on the underside of the base, in the mid-back area, to create total body vibration. The vibration eases you to sleep and provides health benefits like increasing circulation, alleviating muscle fatigue, and reducing stress hormones. It also creates a white noise effect, blocking out noises that may interrupt your sleep.

Dimensions and Compatibly

Do Glideaway adjustable bases work with any mattress?

Yes. Our adjustable bases are compatible with most innerspring, hybrid, foam, and air mattresses of any brand.

However, if you prefer an innerspring mattress, it is important to note that mattresses with a border wire are not compatible with Glideaway adjustable bases. If possible, we suggest purchasing your mattress and the adjustable base at the same time to create a personalized sleep system that works well together.

Is a foundation or bed frame needed with Glideaway adjustable bases?

There is no need for a metal bed frame or a foundation with most of our adjustable base models. 

Our zero clearance adjustable base models can be used with the included legs or on platform frames and foundations. Previous zero clearance adjustable base models, such as the Freestyle, do not include legs and can only be used on platform frames and foundations.

Can Glideaway adjustable bases be used with my existing bed frame?

If the existing bed frame is an open, slat-less style that fits with the specific adjustable base model’s dimensions, you should be able to use it with your adjustable base.

For bed frames with slats, we recommend our zero clearance adjustable base models.

Can Glideaway adjustable bases go on a platform bed with storage drawers underneath?

Our zero clearance adjustable base models can be used with the included legs or on platform frames and foundations. Previous zero clearance adjustable base models, such as the Freestyle, can only be used on platform frames and foundations and do not include legs.

Older models that do not feature a zero clearance frame can be made compatible with platform beds with the addition of our Zero Clearance kit. Can my current furniture and linens be used with Glideaway adjustable bases?

Yes. Existing headboards, bed linens, and most standard frames can be used with Glideaway adjustable bases.

What are the weight limits on Glideaway adjustable bases?

Glideaway adjustable bases are designed to withstand normal wear and tear. Our adjustable base models undergo a series of tests to determine the weight limits for each size.

You can find your individual base model’s weight restrictions on it’s product information page and in the safety information section in its quick start guide and manuals, found here. Weight restrictions include the weight of the mattress, bedding, and sleeper(s).

Set Up and Care

Does Glideaway offer in-home setup?

In many cases, the retailer you purchased your new adjustable base from will deliver, assemble, and set up your adjustable base for you. Be sure to ask your salesperson about the store’s policies.

How do I set up my new adjustable base?

Glideaway adjustable bases come with a quick start guide in the box and can be assembled in about thirty minutes. If you want a more detailed guide, you can find the manual for your adjustable base here

Most importantly, we recommend setting up your adjustable base with at least two people to help with the heavy lifting. In many cases, the retailer your new adjustable base was purchased from will deliver, assemble, and set up your adjustable base for you. Be sure to ask your salesperson about the store’s policies.

Can I set up my adjustable base by myself?

We recommend setting up your adjustable base with at least two people to help with heavy lifting.

Do I need to use the retainer bar that was provided?

We recommend using the included retainer bar to keep your mattress securely in place. 

How do I clean my adjustable base?

For upholstered adjustable bases, spot clean with upholstery shampoo, a mild detergent, or a mild dry cleaning solvent. Hot water extraction or steam cleaning is not a recommended method.

For the best results, pre-test a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding. Do not saturate upholstery.

How do I find my adjustable base’s serial number?

Your adjustable base’s serial number can be found in several locations. You can find the serial number on the labels of each electrical component: motor(s), power supply, control box, and the inside panel of the remote. The serial number can also be found on a tag or sticker on the underside of the base by raising the head or foot sections of the base. Split sized bases will have two serial numbers.

What do I do if I lose or break my remote control?

You can purchase a replacement remote control directly from Glideaway by calling 1-855-581-3095 or emailing our warranty team at warranty@glideaway.com.

You will need your adjustable base’s serial number to find the correct remote control for your model. To locate your adjustable base’s serial number, see the ‘How do I find my adjustable base’s serial number?’ FAQ. 

What do I do if my remote control isn’t working properly?

To make sure the remote is properly working, replace the batteries and re-pair the remote control.

How do I reset my remote to its original factory settings?

To reset your remote to the factory settings (the Anti-Snore, Zero Gravity, Memory A and Memory B position settings), hold down the ‘Flat’ and ‘Zero Gravity’ buttons until the back light blinks.

What do I do if my remote control buttons do not illuminate?

Check that batteries are installed correctly (+ of battery to + in remote) and are fully touching the battery contact points. Replace batteries in the remote control & re-pair remote control.

What do I do if my remote control illuminates and appears to be operable, but no features of my adjustable base will activate?

If your adjustable base is not functioning, check for any signs the base may be receiving power (i.e. lights, noises). Make sure all connections from the main control box to the outlet are firmly connected. Unplug power cord, wait 30 seconds and plug in to reset electronic components.

Check the electrical outlet and electrical devices. Defective surge protectors, electrical power strips, and electrical outlets can cause power supply issues. Test outlet by plugging in another working appliance.  Electrical circuit breakers may be tripped, check the electrical service breaker box. Re-pair remote control if needed.

What do I do if the head or foot section of my adjustable base will rise but will not return to a flat position?

If your adjustable base’s head or foot section is not functioning properly, the section mechanisms may be obstructed. Verify that the adjustable base is not positioned against a wall, nightstand, or other object that may cause the sections to be stalled. Verify that the motors are not obstructed by any objects underneath the base.

Using your remote, raise the head or foot section a short distance to realign the lift/lower mechanisms. Press the emergency stop button, the base will adjust to a flat position if connected to a power source. To locate your adjustable base’s emergency button, download your model’s Owner manual here.

What do I do if the head or foot section of my adjustable base has minor interference during operation?

Check the batteries in the remote and replace if necessary. Make sure that you are not exceeding the capacity of your adjustable base’s motor (operating one minute over a nine minute period). Press your remote control buttons squarely and accurately. Your control box may be experiencing common Radio Frequency Interference from other radio transmitting devices.

What do I do if the head section of my adjustable base will elevate, but will not return to the horizontal (flat) position?

Your adjustable base’s lifting mechanism may be obstructed. Elevate your adjustable base and check for obstruction and remove any obstructions.

If a headboard is installed, this could interfere with the adjustable base. Verify that distance between headboard brackets and mattress is sufficient. Adjust if required.

What do I do if my adjustable base is making an excessive motor noise?

A slight amount of motor noise is common. Verify the adjustable base is not against a wall, nightstand, or other object which may cause noise or vibration.

If the adjustable base is installed over a bed frame, verify that the motor is not causing the bed frame or its components to vibrate. Verify that nothing under the base could cause noise during adjustable base operation. Verify that any attachment hardware is tight.
