Mattress FAQs

General Questions

What should I look for when buying a new mattress?

Above all, sleep experts recommend a firm support system. Glideaway memory foam mattresses respond to the weight of the body, reducing pressure points and providing relief from aches and pains.

Is there an adjustment period for Glideaway mattresses?

A new memory foam mattress will realign your body into a proper straight-line sleeping posture. Subsequently, it may take 7-10 days for your body to adjust.

Features and Benefits

How safe are materials in Glideaway mattresses?

All foams used in Glideaway products are certified to be safe for both you and the environment. Our foams are certified for content, emissions, and durability by CertiPUR-US®.

In addition, CertiPUR-US® approved foams are free from ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead, heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, and have a very low impact on indoor air quality.

What safety tests have been done on Glideaway mattresses?

Glideaway has ensured that our mattresses meet all of the strict safety regulations set by the US Federal Government. The national mattress standard, referred to as 16 CFR Part 1632 and Part 1633, requires all mattresses sold in the United States to undergo very rigorous burn tests meant to substantially increase the amount of time consumers have to detect and escape from a fire.

All Glideaway mattresses meet this standard and contain a fire retardant inner cover fabric to comply with regulations.

What certifications do Glideaway mattresses have?

All foams used in Glideaway products have been tested and certified for content, emissions, and durability by the CertiPUR-US® program, an organization that conducts rigorous safety inspections and analysis by independent, accredited testing laboratories, thus ensuring the safety of our product. Additionally, CertiPUR-US® foams are free from ozone depleters – as well as PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead, heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, and low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million).

You can learn more about the CertiPUR-US® here.

Are mattresses and pillows that contain latex safe for allergy sufferers?

It depends. Buyers with a known allergy should make the decision based on their experience and physician guidelines. Today, latex mattresses and pillows are safe for use, even by allergy sufferers.

Latex allergies only activate through skin contact, which does not occur with Glideaway products.

How much do Glideaway mattresses weigh?

Do Glideaway mattresses require a foundation or box spring?

When using bedding products with slats, the space between individual slats should be fewer than 5”.

Set Up and Care

How long do I need to wait before sleeping on my new mattress?

Once you take your mattress out of the box, let the mattress unroll in the plastic wrap. Once it’s laying flat, you can remove the plastic wrap and the mattress will begin expanding!

Please allow up to 24 hours for your mattress to fully decompress before sleeping on it.

Will my Glideaway mattress smell or “Off-Gas” when opened?

Glideaway mattresses are made with premium memory foams. Some customers notice a mild scent upon unboxing new memory foam products.

This scent is from new foam, not from chemicals. It should dissipate quickly in a well-ventilated room.

How do I clean my mattress cover?

To clean your mattress cover, remove bedding. Gently spot clean with a mild detergent and cold water. Let air dry. Do not bleach or machine wash. Replace bedding after cover is fully dry.

While putting a fitted sheet on top of your mattress will keep it clean, it won’t prevent spills, stains, dust mites, or bed bugs from damaging your mattress. We recommend using a mattress protector to limit damage.

Can I purchase a replacement mattress cover?

Glideaway doesn’t currently offer replacement covers for sale. To limit damage, we recommend using a mattress protector.

Can Glideaway mattresses be re-folded for transport?

Glideaway mattresses are not designed to be refolded or compressed after initial expansion.
